The Elizabeth Wightman Story..

Elizabeth Wightman founded a ranch in the Sierra Nevadas in the 1800s, when neither grace nor style were required or desired. Her spirit of determination and independence went hand in hand with her romantic nature and classic elegance. She was the obvious inspiration for Albert's business. 
Scent is a potent reminder of our past. Some of the founders strongest memories are the scents of summer as a kid on Elizabeth's ranch. Violets, roses, lilacs, and magnolias surrounded the house, while inside, the kitchen was filled with freshly picked lavender, rosemary, and sage. Fragrance enveloped me and became my fascination. Before launching into the rarefied air of the perfume world, I was an architect. In 1995, I devoted myself to my true passion and created a perfumery. 
I knew how to design a building and constructing fragrances follows similar lines: a well balanced foundation is required to support the heart and top notes. As with architecture, I also knew there were fragrances for the masses and perfumes that speak to the individual. From the exterior design of a product to the scent inside, I seek to touch the individual with my elizabethW collections. They are clean, simple, sophisticated, elegant, and totally original. They reflect an emphasis on quality and beauty, valuable lessons passed down through the generations from Elizabeth Wightman, my great grandmother. 
I hope that elizabethW brings out the individual in you.

Cedar Rose Lane is pleased to announce  new Soy Candles, Laundry Luxuries, Bath Lotions, Soaps and Products.....made in New Hampshire....on a farm....Natural, useful, affordable products for everyday life!

This large, 16 oz soy candle is richly fragrant with and a delight to burn. We believe strongly in soy--it is cleaner burning than regular paraffin. It burns slower than regular paraffin.

It doesn't leave all that black soot on your walls. Derived from an agricultural crop, this candle is made from USA grown soybeans. Renewable, and you're supporting our farmers.

Poured by hand, and you'll be amazed at the amount of fragrance that results from the clean burning candle. It will last for about 100 hours.

Dryer Sachets

                                               

Around and around the sachet goes, tumbling in the dryer with your damp clothes. What comes out of this tumbling (in addition to the wonderful aroma wafting from your dryer) is clean smelling, lightly fragranced clothes. 

Each sachet is good for 5-6 washes. There are 3 sachets in each bundle. Can be used to freshen drawers, gym bags, any stinky place.

Laundry Luxury

This old fashioned formula is wonderfully fragranced, biodegradable and very effective. You only need 1/8 cup per wash load. This is a low sudsing formula, it is kind to nature, and kind to those with sensitivities to chemicals. 

It costs a little more per load than the big brands, but it is a plain and simple product that you will love.

This is a practical luxury you can't live without. Safe and low sudsing for high efficiency and front loader washing machines. 

This Laundry Luxury will become your all time home staple product that you love!

There is something about antique lace that I just love and so many of our customers love lace (any kind of lace ).  As always, I am looking for new and unique finds for the store.  Recently, on one of my shopping adventures, I found some beautiful antique French Lace.  There was an elderly woman in a booth where I was shopping selling all kinds of European Lace.  I rummaged through her items and came across exactly what I was looking for, pieces of lace that I can make beautiful, long Lace Scarves with. I purchased yards and yards of old lace, hand tatted lace, embroidered lace, and with my creative mind working overtime, I am certain I will create something extraordinary.  Vintage Lace Scarves, that will go with anything you are wearing from casual jeans and a tea shirt for the weekend or that special dress. A Vintage Antique Lace Scarf will be a great, stylish accessory for your wardrobe and scarf collection. 
So in between everything else that I am doing, I will be making some new and beautiful scarves, that will have a little bit of history in the lace they are made out of.  They will be available for sale in the store and on-line before the end of the month.

We have many new and Vintage items coming into the store, so keep checking in and we are adding new items on-line weekly.  
This week, the store is under construction, we are doing a little interior remodel to make room for new displays, antiques and merchandise.  It is always a little overwhelming doing this and making changes but I am excited to have all of this completed.
I am off to the Mart and will not be blogging much this week, busy looking at all of the new items featured and of course, buying, planning and thinking..What will the retail world bring in 2012?  All things Good!  Lets hope so!  All in the life of a Shop Girl...stay tuned...

These adorable Valentine Bowls just arrived and are available in the store, they come in a set of three, priced at $32.99.  They are great options for holding your favorite Valentine Chocolates, snacks or just sitting out on the table looking festive and adding some much needed color for this time of year!  

I have some heart dishes at home that I set out every year on my beautiful, antique table that sits in the center of my living room window between my two favorite reading chairs.  Needless to say, whenever I put any candy out in a dish, my darling little "Zara" sneaks up into the chair and helps herself into a delightful chocolate snack. I come home and find the little heart dishes empty and foil wrappers/papers on the carpet!  I know, chocolate is not good for dogs, but "Zara" seems to think otherwise....

I love finding new decorative delights for the store and for my customers.  It comforts me to listen to your stories of how you have decorated, or who you are purchasing your gift for....and how when you come to Big Bear, you always stop by and visit my store to see what's new and of course to feel inspired with new decorating ideas.

There is always something special about each holiday and decorating with your favorite items, finding new prizes to add to your collection and sitting them out throughout your home......Certainly, that is what makes your home...."Home"......

As always, there are many new items arriving and we are searching to find new, and vintage items for the store......Tomorrow, we go on another adventure to hunt for more Antiques and goodies for the store....I can't wait to go and see what I find......

Happy New Year from Cedar Rose Lane!  First and foremost, I want to "Thank" our many loyal customers for their continued support, loyalty and patronage during 2011 and for all the shopping years at Cedar Rose Lane.  There are many of you who stop in and shop once a year and many who frequent the store often and without your loyal support, our store as well as the many small, independent owned stores in our small community of Big Bear Lake, could not flourish and survive.  Your enthusiastic visits, combined with your news of your visit to Big Bear, how you love the store, a new find, and/or what you are doing during your stay in Big Bear is always enjoyed and makes our loyal customer base the incredible Cedar Rose extended Family.
This year as we begin 2012, we are busy cleaning up from the recent holiday season.  Currently, we are experiencing some unusually warm weather, ( We Know This is Only Temporary ) so we are taking this opportunity to make some fun and new interior design changes within the store, some much needed paint on a few walls, lighting enhancements and of course, new merchandise, displays and all the things that come with a new year!
